At-Home Clinical Trial FAQ

The purpose of this study is to assess how orally administered Epeleuton capsules are processed in the body, how Epeleuton targets different aspects of Sickle Cell Disease and how well Epeleuton is tolerated.
You will be asked questions about your condition and sickle cell diagnosis on the phone. If the information you provide suggests that you might be eligible, the information will be provided to the study doctor and staff who will then follow up with you to schedule a more detailed assessment to confirm your eligibility.
Upon completion of the study eligibility assessments, such as bloods at your first study visit, your study doctor will call you to inform you of the result of these enquiries and the study nurse will then reach out to you to set up your next at-home visit.
There is no requirement for any medical equipment at your home. All equipment will be taken care of by the study doctor and nurses who will travel to your home.

Epeleuton’s active ingredient is a fatty acid, 15-hydroxy eicosapentaenoic acid (15(S)-HEPE) ethyl ester. 15(S)-HEPE is found naturally in the body. In previous preclinical studies it has been shown to have a positive effect on the health of red blood cells and hemolytic anemia (when red blood cells are destroyed faster than they can be made), on blood vessel inflammation and on organ damage.
Epeleuton capsules need to be taken by mouth, with food or within 30 minutes of a meal, twice daily.
The study medication will be sent directly to your home in advance of your visits.
Epeleuton capsules need to be stored in the fridge.
